Description:

Forges of Pyrene present you the largest collection of ancient jobs: 120 trades using 6,500 tools are presented in an area of 5 hectares!

Educational tools, presentations and immersion in the world of these ancient works are:
- A slideshow,
- A teaching room,
- Guided tours,
- An art gallery,
and moreover moving animations such as:
- The blacksmith shop,
- The shoemaker,
- The bread oven,
- The business shoeing,
- The distiller and stills,
- The prospector of Scios, ...

The latest forging « a martinet » still active and its iron museum will also delight you (the forge is listed as historical monument since 1993).

Trades are grouped into seven major categories:
- On the place of the village,
- The agricultural world,
- Domestic life,
- Through the space reserved for the home,
- Clothing

Planning:

The park is open:
- From June to September, from 10:00 to 18:00
- From October to May, from 13:00 to 18:00 on weekdays and from 10:00 to 18:00 on weekends.
It is closed on Mondays.

The picnic area is located at the edge of the water.
The park has a playground for chidren.

The iron museum details you every step from the extraction of iron ore to its use. Details are given by many documents, tools and objects as well as through scenography (the world of forging « a martinet »).

At last, one very important aspect of past life is presented: this aspect is the popular events, such as festivals and celebrations as they were happening at the time, from birth to death through marriage, parties, the different steps of the life, accompanied by music and the traditions of the past.

Mongaillard is located at 91km in the South of Toulouse (including 82km of motorway).

From Toulouse, take the A620 / E80 to the South, continue on the E80, the « Highway of the Two Seas », continue with the A61 / E80.
Then take the A66 / E09 and exit at Pamiers.
Continue with the RN20 / E09, go through the tunnel of Foix and take the exit 11 towards « Montgailard / ZA Foix-Sud ».
Take the D117 to the left, cross Foix and enter in Montgaillard.
