Description:

The museum shows you through its 1500m² of exhibition more than 500 objects, machines, tools and materials and a mine gallery restored by former miners.

You will understand how the Var, principal place where bauxite is found in France was the world leader for several decades.

The museum red mouths tells the history of this mine.

Finally, well balanced between history and the present, the museum highlights the industries that use aluminum, such as transport, sport, design or architecture.

Comments:

You will understand how this red ore is so present in the region. Note that in addition it was called bauxite during its discovery around Les Baux-de-Provence.

At the end of your visit, you will understand how the ore is processed to obtain aluminum.

The museum is accessible to persons with reduced mobility, and two wheelchairs are available for visitors at the reception desk.

As you can see in the map below, Tourves is at about 50km away from Toulon, Marseilles, Hyeres and Aix-en-Provence.
From the A8 motorway, take the exit 34, then take the DN7, direction Saint-Maximin.
Then take the exit Marseilles / Tourves, to the village of Tourves.
The museum is on the right at the bus stop.
