Description:

The Pole of the Stars is the center where the scientific explanations of the site of the radiotelescopes of Nancay are given.
It presents the different types of instruments that are used there for observing the sky, is explaining the sky and the main types of celestial objects that exist.
Then, of course, the instruments of the Nançay station are presented and their operation is detailed.
Finally, what is serached by scientists is explained, such as pulsars, gravitational waves, the history of the Universe and the elements essential of the life.

The Pole of the Stars has permanent and temporary exhibitions and a planetarium that can welcome up to 40 people simultaneously.
The Pole of the Stars is accessible to handicapped persons and has a free car park.
Pets are not allowed on the site.
Mobile phones must be switched off on site because they directly emit waves that are listened by the local radio telescopes.

The site is near the D29, on the axis Salbris-Orleans & Nancay-Vierzon-Bourges.

Arrived at Nancay, take thedirection of Souesmes (D29)
Ciel Ouvert is located at about 2km on the right (parking).
The site is nestled in the heart of Sologne at 2 hours from Paris and Bourges Salbris and at 70km away from Orleans. Highway A71 (Orleans, Clermont-Ferrand) exit Salbris then D944 for 14 km.
From Vierzon, it is at 20km towards Auxerre.
