07-07-2012 The supercomputer Curie from Bull in the CEA at Bruyères-le-Châtel  Picture : Le monde de l'informatique The brain new supercomputer of the CEA at Bruyeres-le-Chatel is fully running. Its power is tremendeous as it can perform two thousand billion operations per second, that is to say, 2 petaflops. For the implementation of this supercomputer that allows France to stay in the top superpower countries, the civil society GENCI (Grand Equipement National de Calcul Intensif) has been created. It is owned at 49% per the government, at 20% per the CEA, at 20% per the CNRS, at 10% per Universities and at 1% per the INRIA. Its implemantation is the French participation in the European program named PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe) that involves 24 countries. This supercomputer is the first one of a network that will count 4 in Europe. This tool will help to progress in many scientific research, such as, for example, in the representation of the black matter.
