 What superlatives to define the third largest museum in the world but also the most prestigious one. Its name has become synonymous with Prestigious & Rare. 17 km of corridors, impressive collections: 3 months are needed to show all parts of collections properly. This is simple, the photo at the bottom of this article shows only a side of the museum. In the archaeological field, the Louvre is brilliantly represented in its collections: - The Egyptian antiquities, - Antique Greek, - Roman antiquities, - Etruscan antiquities, - Antique Oriental, - The Medieval Louvre. Of course, the Louvre is known worldwide for all masterpieces of art it displays, such as La Joconde, Mona Lisa, from the genius Leonardo da Vinci. Paintings, Sculptures, Graphic Arts and exceptional objects of art are present in all parts of this magnificent museum, where there are also the apartments of Napoleon the 3rd, that can be visited. In this case, coming throught the underground commercial center of the Louvre allows you to reach quickly & easily the automatic machines to buy the tickets to visit the museum.  The museum is open during the hours specified by clicking on the link here. A day is easily spent in the museum. This gives us a first look to target the following visits. Note that the entrance of Le Louvre on the first Sunday of each month is not free anymore (it was free these Sundays since 1996). Disclaimer : The management team of the destination has the possibility to change the opening days and hours without prior communication.  The Louvre Museum has been awarded Tourism & Handicap in 2002 due to its accessibility policy. The oriental collection has been recently renovated and is now also an impressive part of the museum.
