 25 meters below the surface, the abyss of Fage presents a multitude of shapes and concretions - Volumes and colors such as large draperies shaped like jellyfish, concretions used as xylophone (room organs), or a forest of needles supported by the ceiling, - A paleontological field, - Finally, colonies of bats are present in the site according to the seasons (11 different species in Summer and 4 in Winter).  1900 Noailles The abyss of Fage is located just at the South of Noailles.  The duration of the workshop 'Little archaeological' is about 1 hour 15 minutes. The gulf's visit takes between 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes. The projection of a film takes 50 minutes. The abyss is opened according to the dates and times specified on the right side of the page accessed by clicking here. Disclaimer : The management team of the destination has the possibility to change the opening days and hours without prior communication.  This gulf is the only open cavity in the Limousin region that is open to the public. Educational workshops are led by the team of the site. The workshop 'Little archaeological', suitable for children aged from 7 to 12 years, includes several experiments to explain the role of water in the formation of underground cavities, and for explaining the formation of fossil, excavation techniques and fingerprint records. School tours can be arranged (groups of 20 children and 2 teachers free). The day of the tour runs from 10:00 to 17:00 and an educational document is sent when the booking is done. Themes of the visits are: - Geology, - Bats - Paleontology The gulf is not accessible to disable persons. The temperature of the site is between 10 and 12 ° C: bring warm clothes. Photos are allowed except during guided tours. Parking, picnic tables, a snack bar and a restaurant on site. |
