 The museum Lecoq of Clermont-Ferrand is the only natural history museum generalist about the Massif Central. The museum has very rich collections in the fields of geology and botany. Henri Lecocq was a pharmacist who became a naturalist and created impressive collections in mineralogy, petrology and botany. He has been also the author of numerous books. He was also the friend and associate of Jean-Baptiste Bargoin, whom the city of Clermont-Ferrand also pays tribute to one of its museums which is detailed later here.
