 The collection of armored vehicles presented in Saumur has now 880 machines including nearly 200 that are in full working order. They cover the period from 1917 to today. Presented on a 19,000 sqm wide area, this collection began in 1950 and continues today with a collection of machines coming from all aaround the world. 7 countries are represented: France, USA, Germany, Great-Britain, Italy, Sweden, ex-Soviet Union countries, Portugal, Israel, Brazil, ... You will travel by visiting the museum: - The 1914-1918 room, - The hall of campaign of France in 1940, - The hall of Germany in the war, - The room of curiosities, - The "Warsaw Pact" room, - The Allies room, - The France Contemporary, - The engine room, - The path of great men, - The "Contemporary World", - The women space, - A children's area  1043 Route de Fontevraud 49400 Saumur Saumur is at 66km in the east of Angers. From Angers, take the A11 then the A85 towards Saumur / Tours. Continue to follow the signs "Saumur". In Saumur, the museum is on the bus lines 33 and 34. The museum is managed by an association that continues its work restoring old vehicles. Free parking is available for bus. Many stage sets show you the equipment in their theaters of operations. Hundreds of models complete the visit. The shop allows you to find many items, including books, models, clothing and many other souvenirs. |
